Grasmere

The train went only as far as Windemere and from there we took a double-deck bus--lovely ride actually. We were blessed with incredible weather the afternoon we arrived. As soon as were settled in our gorgeous hostel we set out for a hike around Lake Grasmere. The weather was just a good the next day when we set off on a day hike to Helm Tor. Outstanding. Definitely one of the best days of our visit to the UK.

What made this hike so unusual for us was the lack of trees--unencumbered views of the hills and valleys at every step, very unlike most hiking experiences in Canada. All in all a good setting for writing some romantic poetry!
