Paint Pots
Only a short way down the road from Marble Canyon are the Paint Pots: an easy trail with minimum elevation gain. It takes you to the source of ochre for native peoples for thousands of years and for Europeans much later. You travel past a mound where the spring used to bubble up (now it looks like some extinct volcanic feature--little can grow on it) to the very source of the iron rich water today. The Paint Pots are marked number 10 on the map below.
