Ripple Ridge
This trail winds through Stagleap Provincial Park, a popular place for snowshoeing and skiing in winter, but also a very rewarding summer half-day hike. It's simply a matter of driving to the top of the Salmo-Creston Pass along Highway 3, parking by the lake there, then crossing the road to reach the trailhead. The first hour or so takes you along a switch-backing logging road but, after that, the views are stunning as you walk through forests of white pine and beargrass (the latter was so abundant this year, you might easily think of them as forming"forests".) The end of the ridge is called "Lightning Strike" by some.
