Stanley Glacier Trail
Near the north border of Kootenay Park, this is surely one of the best half-day hikes I've ever been on. A steady but not overly-strenuous climb at the start. Then it's easy going once you reach the hanging valley. Steep mountain walls to your right, avalanche fields and massive scree slopes to your left. Great views of the glacier straight ahead and all kinds of scrambling opportunities. The usual rodent residents: squirrels, pikas and marmots. A magnificent spot. Four hours in and out.
