Only a short ferry ride from Piraeus, Hydra offers a complete change of pace from cosmopolitan Athens. Here there are no archaeological ruins of note. However there are several monasteries, a string of gorgeous beaches, great restaurants as always and, most strikingly of all, a ban of motor vehicles. Its all foot or donkey to get up and down those hills. Wonderful!
